According to a statement on his Instagram account, the 32-year-old rapper sustained injuries all over his body, which led to the collapse of both of his lungs.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, shot fellow musician Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 and is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence.

The state's prisons department's Pedro Calderón Michel reported that the attack occurred at approximately 07:20 local time (15:20 GMT).
According to him, first aid was administered by prison staff before Lanez was sent to a nearby hospital for more care.
Mr. Calderón Michel told the BBC that the stabbing is being investigated. Regarding the attacker's motivation, he remained silent.
"Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through," added the message.
